Hi! My name is Mary and I’m a TESOL qualified teacher, with over 9 years teaching experience. I have taught in schools and universities in Europe as well as the UK.

I studied English Literature and French Studies at Lancaster University, before moving to France where I spent about 3 years working as an English teacher at the University of Bordeaux.

Whilst teaching in France I taught English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to Biology students, as well as running weekly General English courses for groups and intensive language workshops. More recently I have also taught Skype and telephone lessons to managers at IKEA in France, focusing on Business English and specialised vocabulary.

I also have a lot of experience with individual tuition. I have taught students from all over the world, including China, Pakistan, Yemen, Libya, India, Nepal, Azerbaijan, Gabon, Saudi Arabia and Mali, as well as all over Europe.

After getting married 4 years ago I moved back to my native Yorkshire to be closer to family and to build my own business, Sheffield English, with the aim of providing individually tailored lessons.

My personal interests include travel, music, cinema, walking and gardening. I also love meeting new people from different backgrounds and cultures, and I love learning new languages! At the moment I am learning Italian.
